Homemade Sea Moss Gummies (Berry, No Gelatin Needed)
Sea moss gel plus agar turns berry juice into clean vegan gummies — a week of tidy portions from one batch, without the candy-aisle sugar load.

Ingredients
- 1 cup mixed berry juice (100% juice, not cocktail)
- 4 tbsp sea moss gel
- 2 tsp agar agar powder (the vegan set; don't substitute flakes 1:1)
- 1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Method
- 1.Whisk the berry juice, agar powder, and lemon juice in a small saucepan, then let stand 3 minutes to hydrate the agar.
- 2.Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, whisking, and hold it 2–3 minutes until the agar fully dissolves — agar needs the simmer to activate, unlike gelatin.
- 3.Remove from heat, wait 60 seconds, then whisk in the sea moss gel and sweetener until smooth.
- 4.Pour into silicone gummy molds (or a small lined pan to cut into squares) and refrigerate 1–2 hours until firmly set.
- 5.Pop out of molds, store in a lidded container in the fridge, and eat within a week. A serving is about 2 gummies.
Store-bought sea moss gummies run $28 a jar and lean on candy-grade sugar. The homemade version is berry juice, agar, and your own gel — ten minutes of stove time, a week of tidy fridge portions, and you control every gram of sweetener.
The honest engineering note: the agar does the structural work. Sea moss gel alone won't give you a gummy that pops cleanly from a mold. What the sea moss contributes is body, its mineral load, and — frankly — the point of the exercise. Know the per-gummy dose (it's light, see the FAQ) and count it into the daily arithmetic if you're stacking servings.
Questions people actually ask
- Why agar instead of just sea moss gel?
- Sea moss carrageenan alone sets softly — spoonable, not snackable. Agar provides the firm, clean-release bite a gummy needs; the sea moss rides along for the texture and the ritual.
- How much sea moss is in each gummy?
- With 4 tablespoons across a 24-gummy batch, a 2-gummy serving carries about half a teaspoon of gel — a light dose, which is worth knowing if gummies are your only sea moss serving (or one of several).
