Privacy policy

Effective July 30, 2026. This is a static website; it collects as little as the web allows.

What we collect

• Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address with our email provider to send you the newsletter. Unsubscribe links are in every email; unsubscribing deletes you from the list.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people find useful. It sets cookies in your browser, assigns your browser a random identifier, and derives an approximate location from your IP address. Google processes that data on our behalf; we see reports, not individuals by name. We have deliberately turned Google Signals off, which is the setting that would otherwise let Google build advertising audiences from this traffic — so the data is used to improve the site, not to follow you around the internet. You can opt out entirely with Google’s browser add-on, or by using any tracker blocker — nothing on this site breaks if you do.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics. We also run Cloudflare’s privacy-first counter, which uses no cookies at all, stores no identifier for you, and collects nothing personal. We run it alongside Google Analytics for one honest reason: a lot of readers block Google, so on its own it would undercount our traffic. Cloudflare tells us how many people came; Google tells us what they did.
• Affiliate click events. When you click a shopping link we record which product and which page it came from, so we know what to write more of. That event is tied to the same anonymous analytics identifier, never to your name or email.

Affiliate links

Outbound shopping links pass through our own redirect (/go/) and then to the retailer with an affiliate identifier so the retailer knows the visit came from us. Retailers set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your name, address, or payment details from any retailer — at most, aggregate order reporting.

What we don’t do

• No sale of personal information.
• No advertising or retargeting trackers. Our analytics runs with Google’s advertising features switched off, and we host no ad network.
• No accounts, no login, no profile you can log into.
